Band A Voluntary Redundancies 26/08/2010

The branch has recently learnt that DWP management has announced a slew of voluntary redundancy packages for Band A/’AA’ grade staff in Jobcentre Plus and the Pensions Service.

This comes without any forewarning or agreement from PCS TUS, and after almost a year of uncertainty for AA staff, including in Sheffield, where many were compulsarily transferred to CCD under the TPIP project with no idea of the work they were to be carrying out except that there would not be a need for as many AA staff after the transformation.

However, in recent times after months of turmoil, guarantees had been made about a Leaflet Line and Paper Reduction project for at least two years. This changes that. Band A staff have only a few weeks to decide their fate, after which the future is unclear.

Due to the speed and unexpected way in which this announcement was made, the branch does not have many answers at present for Band A staff, but will becalling members meetings and inviting speakers from national TU side to talk to them.

We will keep you updated as much as possible.
