We All Need A Pay Rise!

Thursday 12th June, lunchtime

Hartshead Square

At PCS conference, delegates voted to consult members on our national campaign, including taking part in a campaign of coordinated strike action with other unions aimed at ending the public sector pay cap, and setting up a levy to fund targeted action in our areas.

A branch briefing is being sent out today to build for a yes vote together with pay campaign leaflets and direct debit leaflets (copies are available here (www.pcs.org.uk/en/campaigns/send-an-eaction/index.cfm). To launch the campaign we are asking branches to organise a “we all need a pay rise” day on 12 June to coincide with the opening of the ballot. This will be an opportunity to involve members in workplace activity and a focus for distributing campaign materials and preparing for the ballot.

We need a serious challenge to the government’s pay policy. Our members need a pay rise and winning this ballot, building support for strike action and the campaign is an urgent task for us all.

In Sheffield, we will be launching the ballot by leafleting and advertising the campaign to members outside offices of PCS members on 12th June. More info will come out soon from your local reps.

You can keep up the momentum by tweeting about the campaign too.
