i-daniel-blakePCS members are invited to a special free viewing of Ken Loach’s new award-winning film I, Daniel Blake across the UK on the evening of 3rd October.

For those in Sheffield this is at Cineworld @ 6.30pm.

The new award-winning film by renowned film maker Ken Loach, which has free screenings for PCS members at cinemas in major cities across the UK at 6.30pm on Monday, 3 October, lays bare the human cost of the Conservative party’s attack on our social security system.

Daniel Blake is a 59-year-old skilled craftsman, unable to work following a heart attack and in need of state welfare. He meets a desperate single mother who needs the same thing. Together, they discover that negotiating through the red tape is a challenge.

PCS has a proud record of linking up with other organisations to pursue our campaign for a fairer social security system. The government attacks on our members are part of the same strategy which demonises the poor and those in receipt of benefits. That is why it is important that we don’t allow our members to become divided from claimants who are angry at the cruel sanctions regime which this government has put in place.

To this end, we have linked up with Unite Community to take forward the campaign for a fair and equitable social security system. We held a ground-breaking and successful joint conference last autumn to look at where we could work together and in a continued effort to raise awareness, via Unite, PCS has secured free tickets for PCS members to watch Ken Loach’s new award-winning film, I, Daniel Blake.

To get your free ticket go to the Showfilmfirst website to find a cinema screening near you and then enter code 382195.

Enter your details and print off your voucher. It’s that simple. Tickets are limited so act fast.
